WePAC celebrated National Library Week this year by sending children’s book authors and media personalities to our libraries to visit and read to our students. Students were thrilled to talk to these local celebrities about reading, writing, illustrating, and more!
Books about drawing flew off the shelves at Cassidy Elementary after Matt Phelan talked to fifth graders about illustrating his graphic novels. A student at Heston Elementary asked Pam Tuck to stay at the library forever while others wanted to know how they could get their own copy of her book The Adventure of Sheldon, the Mushroom. The third graders at Longstreth wanted to know how long Kim Glovas had been a reporter and if she is ever scared on the job. And the kindergartners at Rhoads had all kinds of questions and suggestions for Andy Myer, which they were able to share with him via handwritten letters.
These are just a handful of moments from a truly inspiring week at WePAC’s school libraries. We are grateful to the following participants for sharing their time and talents: Gene Barretta, David Brown, Debbie Dadey, Kim Glovas, Cherri Gregg, Paul Kurtz, Andy Myer, Matt Phelan, Judy Schachner, Pamela Tuck.
