Do you have a favorite librarian you would like to honor?
To recognize school and community librarians’ contributions to neighborhoods and to our lives, I welcome you to choose one or more of the fantastic librarians in your life and nominate them for an award (there are money and recognition attached). You have just over a month to pen your most descriptive and thoughtful words!
Whether or not a librarian is selected as 1 of the 10 finalists, you can elect for your library hero/ine to receive a copy of their nomination. Don’t be shy! Words of support and thanks are a treat that most folks don’t get to hear every day, and you can send them with your name included or anonymously. Everybody wins!
Award guidelines recommend that writers pool their ideas and words into a joint nomination (they note that this creates a more powerful entry). If you would like to co-write a nomination for a WePAC librarian, please email Mica, and we can enter an award submission together. Thanks!
Rules of the contest:
In order to be eligible, each nominee must be a librarian with a master’s degree from a program accredited by the ALA in library and information studies or a master’s degree with a specialty in school library media from an educational unit accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education.
Nominees must be currently working in the United States in a public library, a library at an accredited two- or four-year college or university or at an accredited K-12 school.
