How do we know what books are an appropriate reading level for kids in different grades?

Within a certain grade level, how can we choose books that are easier for some students and that will challenge more advanced readers?

And how are we going to organize our library collections??

These are some questions that teachers and volunteers are asking in the first weeks of school, and one of our Longstreth volunteers shared a leveled book list that might serve as a helpful guideline (thank you, Becky Birtha!).  This was created by Nancy Giansantebased on some guidelines from education consultants:

Happy organizing!
