A Book Can Change a Story

WePAC is currently the only group working systematically to re-open and operate public school libraries in Philadelphia, to foster a love for books and of reading for all students. We are currently providing direct access to school libraries to over 2,000 children across 13 schools in Philadelphia. For many of the children we serve, WePAC is their primary access to books and literacy enrichment programming. In our vision, EVERY Philadelphia student will be empowered with the literacy skills vital to the success of the child and the prosperity of our community. To this end, WePAC provides essential, regular access to books and literacy enrichment

  • Complementing classroom teaching with engaging and informative Library Programs and literacy enrichment activities.
  • Spark creativity, stoke imaginations, and encourage children’s dreams and ambitions through the written and spoken word, especially through our Library Café program in which authors, illustrators or local celebrities serve as special guest readers.
  • Though we are not currently recruiting for this program, a number of WePAC schools also participate in our Reading Buddies program, where students work to improve their reading skills in one-on-one settings.
