A Book Can Change a Story
WePAC can only provide its literacy-based services to thousands of young students because of the selflessness, dedication, and talents of these volunteers. We are always looking for more volunteers to serve in our schools. In fact, we are recruiting new volunteers right now. You can help elementary school students reach their full potential. WePAC needs you!
Step 1: Volunteer Registration
Submit a WePAC Volunteer Registration Form. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
Step 2: Phone Orientation
Schedule a phone orientation with Carrie, our Program Director.
Step 3: Clearances
After you get your confirmation email, you will receive an “Obtaining Your Clearances” email. Before volunteering in our libraries, all volunteers must obtain a PA State Police Criminal History Clearance, a PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI Criminal History Clearance (which includes fingerprinting). You will receive step-by-step instructions on how to obtain each clearance in the “Obtaining Your Clearances” email.
Step 4: New Volunteer Training
Once you have completed a phone orientation, you will be asked to attend a New Volunteer Training to be done over Zoom or at the WePAC office. The training lasts about 3 hours and all new volunteers must attend a training before volunteering in our libraries.
Step 5: Placement
During the New Volunteer Training, you will receive your school placement, Volunteer ID badge, and instructions for your first day in the library.
Step 6: Get Started!
You will be ready for your first day in the library. WePAC will continue providing opportunities for other trainings and development as well as ways to connect with other volunteers.
